Wrights Rd Playground -Wrights Rd, Kellyville

This park is great for a morning out with the kids.  Its a new playground just down the road from the Kellyville shops on Wrights rd.  There are lots of things for the kids to do on some pretty cool equipment, like climbing, riding, spinning, sliding and of course swinging.  For more details check out below.

The playground is shaded by a couple of triangular shade cloths.

As the park is only small there is no walking tracks.

There is something here for kids between 1-12. There are 3 slides, a four seater spinner, there is a climbing obstacles, a funky ambulance, swings, climbing nets and see saws.

Open Spaces:
There is a small grassy area to the side of the equipment.
Carparking/Accessiblity:

Carparking is roadside on Wrights rd or Via Lavender Ave.  Accessibility isn't fantastic as you would need to contend with the curb

One water bubbler.

Fenced:

No fencing. Wrights rd is quite a busy road, so watch the little ones that are easily distracted and like to run off.

Gated:

Not gated.

The playground equipment here is the attraction as its so new and excitingly different.

Bernie Mullane Sports Complex - Liberty Playground Marella Ave Kellyville

If you have more than one child under 4 you will love this little playground,  its completey fenced with lots of exciting things to engaged little people.   It is also wheelchair friendly with ample disabled parking spaces (approx. 10) with a designated wheel chair swing.    This park would be a great to check out when there was some football games on to soak up the atmosphere, grab a snack and visit the playground.

Only one or two in  the playground.
Seating:
A couple of bench chairs scattered around the playground.
Shade:
There is no shade in this playground which on a hot day can make the equipment a little hot.
Bike/Walking Tracks:

There is a bike/walking track that is approx 1.2 kms long that starts behind the playground that runs along side of the fitness centre.

Playground Equipment:

There is something here for kids between 1-12.  There are 5 slides, two merry go rounds, there is a climbing obstacle and tunnel, a funky bongo set, a basket swing, climbing nets and see saws.  There is also a wheelchair swing that can be accessed by carers/guardians with a key collected from the Fitness Centre.

Open Spaces:

There is a small , grassy area to the right of the playground perfect for little legs to play with a soccer ball or footy.   But in the whole complex there is numerous playing fields that would be accessible when there were no competitive sports playing. 

Carparking/Accessiblity:

There is a large onsite carpark, with ample disabled parking (approx 10 spaces).  There is also additional carparking behind the playground on sports days.

Water Bubblers:
No water bubblers in the playground itself.
Fenced:
The entire playground is fenced and has a really wide door to accomodate a wheelchair.
Gated:
The sports complex is gated hours are not known but its assumed it would be open late to accomodate the fitness club.

Heritage Park - Heritage Park Dr Castle Hill

This park is a historical listed site that provides everything that you need to have a nice Sunday picnic.  Its winding walking paths lead you to little pockets of nature waiting to be explored as well as keeping you in touch with its history by way of information signs. These signs follow the time of history from its use by the original inhabitants the Dharug people, to the establishment of the convict farm, church glebe, lunatic asylum, orchards and small farm holdings.   Its a really is a beautiful park with rolling grass hills, beautiful calling whip birds and little critters like water dragons. There are one set of electric BBQs right at the top of the park which can be accessed via the walking path running along the playground.

There is seating only in the pinic areas by way of picnic tables.

There is plenty of natural shade and shaded pergolas in the pinic areas.
Bike/Walking Tracks:
There are walking tracks winding through the entire park. Its a very popular spot for power walkers and personal training sessions.
Playground Equipment:
The playground is made up of mainly rope climbing equipment, along with two spinners and a larger one.  The floor covering is tan bark and recylced rubber so the younger ones tend to get a little dirty.
Open Spaces:
Plenty of space for ball games, cricket, kite flying, frisbee etc.
Carparking/Accessiblity:
There is plenty of carparking available at the main entrance of Heritage Park Dr.  There are also other entry points via Balintore Rd and Banks Rd with on street parking. There is wheelchair access via the Heritage Park Dr carpark.

Yes there is one bubbler near the playground.
Fenced:
There is no fencing.
Gated:
The main carpark is gated, but the park can be accessed at any time via the other entry points.

Unique Attractions:
The history of the site would be the main attraction as well as its great walking paths. There is also a pond at the top of the park, near the top BBQ area, that is worth a look, you might even spot a water dragon or two.  Its not fenced so keep an eye on the little ones but there is a timber viewing platform.

Rouse Hill Regional Park

Rouse Hill regional park is a great park tucked away at the back of Rouse Hill.  It has wide open spaces, walking trails, terrific BBQ areas as well awesome play facilities catering for kids of all ages.  There are two seperate play areas, one which is great for toddlers and one set up the hill a little from the toddler park that is great for kids from about 7 to teens.  

Toilets:

There are toilet facilities available.  The main toilet block near the playgrounds tends to be shut midweek and open weekends but there are clean portaloos available for the times when these are closed.  These are in the carpark nearest to the walking track and toddler park.
BBQs:
There are numerous electric BBQs throughout the park. There are two timber constructed pergolas that come complete with seating and BBQs, you will find these to the right of main access road.  There are also BBQs near the playgrounds.  If you wish to reserve any of the areas contact the local council.

Bins:
There are NO BINS you must take you rubbish with you, so remember to take some bags to collect your rubbish.
Seating:
There is lots of seating available right throughout the park, both covered picnic tables and bench seating.
Shade:
This park is very leafy so there is plenty of natural shade and the toddler play equipment is covered by a shade cloth.  As mentioned previously the seating is also covered.
Bike/Walking Tracks:

There is a walking circuit at the bottom of the hill, which you can access via the main carpark at the bottom of the hill.  There are also bike and walking trails scattered throughout the entire park.

Playground Equipment:

The playground equipment suits kids of all ages.  Under the shadecover the toddlers can have fun on their tricylces and play house in the little cubby houses or go exploring up on the viewing platform, from here the kids can slide down a choice of two slides.  For kids 3-8 just outside this area there is some great climbing equipment.   There is also a wooden maze that younger kids love to venture into and play hide and seek.  The littlies also have their own flying fox, which is great but at present seems not to be working properly.  As for the older kids there is a fantastic adventure playground just up the hill a little from the toddler park.  This playground has a great flying fox, and a few other challenging rides.

Open Spaces:

There is open spaces although the grass can be long in some parts, so depending on when it was last mowed will depend on wether you can play ball games.

Carparking/Accessiblity:

There is a large carpark at the end of the main access road, with other carparking available around the other picnic sites.  The accessibility is good with wheelchair access nearly in all the areas.
Water Bubblers:
There are no bubblers.
Fenced:
The toddler area is partially fenced, but there is no other fencing around the park.
Gated:
The park is gate and the hourse are 8am till 8pm.
Entry fee:
No entry fee.
Unique Attractions:

The main attractions of this park would be the adventure play ground equipment including the flying foxes and the wooden maze.  Horseriding is also allowed in this park if you own a horse.

Millicent Park - Government Farm Cres, Castle Hill

This is a local park that is a little hidden treasure in terms fenced toddler parks.  It's quite small nestled amongst a fairly new estate in Castle Hill.  Its got great playground equipment, perfect for kids under 5, theres a small gazebo and nice grassy spot for playing ball. Below is an outline of the facilities at the park.

Seating:
There is no official seating although there are two paved stairs down into the playground, they make perfect seats. 
Shade:
Not much in the way of natural shade but the gazebo makes for good shade.

No bike/walking tracks
Playground Equipment:
Fantastic toddler (<5's) play equipment.   The equipment includes a slide, abacus slider, a tunnel, telescope and steering wheel and other things.
Open Spaces:
There is a small , sloped grassy area to the right of the playground perfect for little legs to play with a soccer ball or footy. 
Carparking/Accessiblity:
Carparking is limited due to the location of the park there is usually only 2 or 3 spaces on Government Farm Cres, available at any one time.  But if you were meeting with a few friends best to park in the Heritage Park carpark and walk through the small laneway between some houses opposite the Heritage Park carpark.  Access to the laneway is via a small paved pathway that runs behind the houses in the estate where Millicent park is located.  In terms of disabled access it would be quite limited as you need to get up the curb, once above the curb you could access the gazebo.  Unfortunately there is no ramp down to the playground equipment.

Gated:
This park is gated but not in the sense of open/closed hours, its gated because its fenced.

Unique Attractions:
The close proximity to the Heritage Park would be a unique attraction of this park.  Due to this closeness you could supplement your Heritage Park visit with a walk around to this one.

Cumberland State Forest - 95 Castle Hill Rd West Pennant Hills

Cumberland State Forest is a great outing in the Hills District for bush walking, exploring and picinics. There is no entry fee, it also has a cafe and for the green thumbs there is also a Natives nursery. There are three bush walking tracks all varying in difficulty from a easy 30 min walk to two moderate tracks each taking about and hour to complete. Below we have outlined the facilities available.

Toilets:
Yes there are two toilet blocks near the information centre and cafe.
BBQs:
Four electric push button available, two in the Shepherds picnic area and two in the Calgaroo picnic area.  The Shepherds picnic area is bounded by entry road and carpark so keep an eye on the little ones.

Bins:

There are recycling and general waste bins in all the picnic areas.
Seating:
Plenty of log seating on walking trails, picnic table and chairs, as well as seating undercover in two gazebos by the Sensory trail and Palm Gully trail.
Shade:
Plenty of natural shade from forest canopy, as well as covered shelters in picnis areas
Bike/Walking Tracks:
3 Walking trails - Sensory Trail (Easy 30mins), Palm Gully Trail (Mod 60mins) Forestry Trail (Mod 60mins)

Carparking/Accessiblity:Plenty of carparking available with disabled carparks also. There is also wheelchair access to cafe.

Yes the forest park is gated and the hours are 830am to 500pm everyday, with extended hours till 600pm during daylight savings. It is closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

The information centre has a great touch table that the littlies will love with bug samples, seed pods and animal skulls, there is also a naughts and crosses game outside the info centre made of tree stumps.  The forest also runs an activity program for kids and families on weekends and during school holidays.
